The Faculty of Medical Sciences of Karaj began its journey as a branch of the Iranian University of Medical Sciences in February 2006, with six departments based in Karaj. This initiative was undertaken by the Council of Expansion of Iran's Medical Sciences. In 2010, following the merger of the Iranian University of Medical Sciences with Tehran University of Medical Sciences, the Karaj School of Medical Sciences, also known as Menafe's Mother University, continued its operations independently. By a decree issued in November 2011 by the University Development Council, the college was elevated to Alborz University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, thereby becoming the custodian of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education Affairs in the Alborz Province.
