Founded in August 1952 in Tehran, the capital of Iran, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, also known as Iran University of Medical Sciences, was one of the premier medical institutions of its time. Currently, the university is a vibrant academic community with 7,206 active students, 521 of whom are international students. It boasts 12 faculties, 980 professors, and 1,015 faculty members. The university has made significant academic contributions, publishing 4,686 scientific articles in domestic journals and conferences. It also publishes nine specialized journals and has organized 31 conferences. The university was founded by Abdol Hossein Samii. Initially, it housed a large library that collected thousands of medical books. This library evolved into an important international medical research and information center, connected via satellite to the American Medical Information Center. Today, the university stands as one of Iran's largest organizations for scientific, cultural, and health services. In terms of scientific and research rankings, the Iranian University of Medical Sciences holds a position in the Times Global Order of 601-800. According to the Shanghai Ranking system, it is ranked 901-1000, reflecting its substantial capabilities.
