The university was initially established in 1982 as Narjes, offering a Kardani Degree in midwifery. It later received an official permit from the country's Ministry of Medical Sciences in 1374 and was reestablished as the Bushehr University of Medical Sciences.
In 1988, the institution admitted 25 medical students for doctoral studies and added four grades, leading to its upgrade to the College of Medical Sciences. This college was directly supervised by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. In 1374, with a permit from the Ministry of Health, it was further developed into the Boushehr University of Medical Sciences and Health Services.
Currently, the Bushehr University of Medical Sciences comprises five faculties, serving 2,368 students and employing 211 faculty members. It offers programs across 32 faculties.

The initial registration fee for students at the university is $50. An annual fee of $50 is also required. For those interested in the Persian language course, which caters to all levels from beginner to advanced, the fee is $300.
