Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, established in 1946 at the end of World War II, initially operated from the Boys' School located in Daneshsara Square. The university's first president was Jehan Shahlou.
Currently, the university is home to 8,500 students, 716 professors, and 875 faculty members, including 220 international students. It has made significant academic contributions, publishing 3,543 scientific papers in domestic journals and conferences, which include 1,310 journal articles and 2,233 conference papers. Additionally, the university has produced 21,477 internationally accredited articles.
The university also owns and publishes six specialized magazines and has organized 12 conferences, further demonstrating its commitment to fostering academic discourse and knowledge dissemination.

Several innovative projects have been completed at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, including:
- The final design and construction of the Intelligent Virtual Description Table (Kalbody).
- The design and manufacture of an Automatic Brain Stereotype Machine for use in rats.
- A study on Breast Radiation Protection in Angiography Testing using various structures of Bismuth.
- The development of an imaging technique with a Nipple Vascular Tissue Phantom for tissue differentiation optimization, which involves measuring dye during Infrared Nazirradiation Wave.
- The design and construction of a speech-resonance feedback device.
- The design of an Electrocardiogram Device Interface for the transmission and storage of ECG signals in a hospital database.
- The design and construction of a Eurodynamics device for animal use.
These accomplishments were highlighted in the Public Relations Report of the Deputy Research and Technology Department's Shanghai University Research and Technology Research Institute's 2023 Annual Conference of International Universities. Furthermore, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences achieved a ranking of 601-800 among international universities.
The Central Library of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences was established in 1366, following the separation of the Ministry of Health from the Ministry of Culture and Higher Education. Spanning an area of 5,700 square meters, the library serves a diverse group of users, including students, faculty members, university staff, and other talented individuals. The Central Library is responsible for managing and coordinating the operations of all its libraries.
As for accommodation, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences has seven dormitory buildings at its disposal. One of these dormitories is conveniently located within the university campus, while the remaining six are dispersed throughout the city. These facilities provide students with comfortable and convenient living options.
The initial registration fee for students at the university is $50. An annual fee of $50 is also required. For those interested in the Persian language course, which caters to all levels from beginner to advanced, the fee is $300.
