Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, a public university in Iran, operates under the Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education in Tehran. It is a successor to the Daralfonoun Medicine Institute, recognized as the oldest academic medical institution in Iran. The university was founded in 1934 and has since relocated twice, finally settling at its current location in 1937. The current president is Dr. Ali Jafarian. In 1986, the medical science faculties of Tehran University formally separated and established the Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Health Services. Today, the university is home to 13,300 students and 1,650 lecturers. It has made significant academic contributions, publishing 9,718 scientific papers in domestic journals and conferences. The university owns 31 specialized journals and has hosted 56 conferences. Additionally, it has produced 74,356 internationally accredited articles.

Tehran University of Medical Sciences has achieved several notable accomplishments: - The Department of Economics and Drug Management won the award from the International Association of Economics and Drug Administration (ISPO). - The university received the Gold Medal of the International RUR Rating System. - The Faculty of Health was recognized as a sample researcher at the 29th Research and Technology Festival of Tehran University. - The university was awarded at the third national women and science festival (Maryam Mirzakhani Award). - According to the Public Relations Department of the International Secretariat, Shanghai JiaoTeng University, which publishes one of the three internationally accredited ranking systems, placed Tehran University of Medical Sciences in the 400–500 rank category, making it the second-ranked institution.

The university offers a range of services to students, including educational loans, housing loans, essential loans, housing deposits, Alvi Foundation loans, and accident insurance. Specialized students and PH students also have access to specific insurance services. The university's residential facilities are located in the Dansegah dormitory, which comprises several residential complexes catering to students across all levels and disciplines. These dormitories are equipped with various welfare, service, and cultural facilities such as reading houses, book repositories, mosques, meeting halls, exercise halls, and cinema halls. The university plans to have eleven dormitories for male students, six for female students, and one for married couples. The total capacity of the girls' dormitories is 1,450, and for boys, it's 1,860. There are also 130 houses available. Various university services, located across different colleges, hospitals, and university dormitories, provide students and staff with nutritious meals at a minimal cost. The existing facilities in the faculties cater to the students' needs throughout the day by providing food. The Student Health and Treatment Center (HMC) offers medical services to students through general and specialized clinics, dental clinics, and vaccination services, all facilitated by experienced university professors. An emergency clinic is also available on the university campus to provide emergency health services to resident students. The Student Counseling and Guidance Center works in various fields with the help of clinical psychologists, neurosurgeons, social workers, etc. The center's activities include providing advice on emotional, mental, and behavioral issues of students, helping them acquire social skills and make appropriate decisions, providing marriage counseling, helping solve family problems, and establishing necessary facilities for students to solve economic and welfare problems. The center also conducts workshops and courses on topics such as learning, focusing, memory, and teaching reading methods, helps to solve student educational and teaching problems, offers correspondence counseling with the students' families, and holds lectures on psychology.

The initial registration fee for students at the university is $50. An annual fee of $50 is also required. For those interested in the Persian language course, which caters to all levels from beginner to advanced, the fee is $300.
