In 1370, the Bojnord School of Nursing was founded under the aegis of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. Following the division of the Great Khorasan province into three separate provinces in 1384, the Ministry of Health granted independence to the Bojnord School of Nursing. In the same year, the North Khorasan Faculty of Medical Sciences was established and officially opened.
In 1387, with the approval of the Council of the Expansion of National Medical Universities, the School of Medical Sciences was rebranded as the North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences and Health Services. By 1393, the Asfarin School of Nursing had evolved into the Esfarayen School of Medical Sciences, becoming an independent entity separate from the North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences.
