Semnan University of Medicine

Semnan University of Medical Sciences, approved by the Council for the Expansion of Iran's Medical Sciences Universities, began its journey on February 11, 1989, with 60 medical students under the supervision of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Within less than a year, with the council's approval, Semnan Medical College was upgraded to Semnan University of Medical Sciences. The university started its operations in 1989 with departments from Semnan Medical School, Semnan School of Nursing and Paramedical Medicine, Shahroud School of Nursing and Midwifery (which later became the University of Medical Sciences in 2010), and Bhari School. It also incorporated four hospitals: Amiralmomenin Hospital, District of Garmkhomein Hospital, and two others. A comprehensive plan was established with 300 hectares of university resources allocated for its implementation. The infrastructure includes a Medical School building with an area of 21,000 square meters, a sports hall with a 2,000-square-meter area, and dormitories accommodating 360 people with a base of 5,300 square meters. The university offers medical degrees, Ph.D. in general medicine and dentistry, and holds undergraduate, non-contiguous undergraduate, professional, and clinical training courses. It also offers specialties in the University of Student's Education and Health Center.
