The establishment of the University of Medical Sciences began in March 1972, based on a joint treaty between the French and Iranian governments. The university, named Bu-Ali Sina University, started its journey in 1975, offering programs in medicine, nursing, and health. These programs formed the core of the Medical Department. Following the separation of Iranian medical schools from the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, the university became independent and fell under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education in 1986.

The initial registration fee for students at the university is $50. An annual fee of $50 is also required. For those interested in the Persian language course, which caters to all levels from beginner to advanced, the fee is $300.
