Founded in 1957, Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources holds the distinction of being the first higher education institution in Iran to excel in the fields of agricultural sciences and natural resources. The university is dedicated to the practical, scientific, educational, research, and training aspects of agriculture and natural resources, offering programs to cultivate expertise in these areas. Currently, the university accommodates 4,000 students, with 38% pursuing undergraduate degrees. The esteemed faculty comprises 170 lecturers and 187 members. The institution has made notable contributions to academic literature, with 10,150 articles published in national newspapers and conferences, including 3,767 journalism articles and 6,383 conference papers. Additionally, it has produced 2,497 internationally accredited articles and is the proud publisher of 13 specialized journals. Notably, the university has hosted 12 conferences and established more than 60 MoUs with 20 countries, along with over 10 Erasmus and Rumi agreements with the European Union. The university, with its rich history, has evolved over the years, marking milestones such as the establishment of the Institute of Forest and Pasture Management in 1957, the founding of the Faculty of Natural Resources in 1982, and subsequently, the integration into the University of Mazandaran in 1986. Finally, in 1992, it achieved the status of the Higher Education Complex of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

The university has nine faculties and 23 specialized departments on two different campuses. _Faculty of Fisheries and Environment: The Faculty of Fisheries and Environment consists of 5 departments of Aquaculture Breeding, Aquaculture Production and Exploitation, Processing of Fisheries Products and Design and Environmental Assessment and Wildlife Management. It is equipped with three laboratories for animal science and wildlife health, environmental pollution and genetics. Specialized laboratories of hydrobiology and fishery, Ficolb (algae culture), food chemistry, genetics, aquaculture, aquaculture and zebra fish are other facilities of this faculty. _Faculty of Forest Science: The Faculty of Forest Science consists of two departments of forestry and forestry and forest ecology and 13 faculty members. _Faculty of Food Industry: The Faculty of Food Science and Technology, Food Engineering and Food Industry Design, and 13 faculty members. The school has four active specialized laboratories for students' research educational purposes. _Faculty of Plant Production: The Faculty of Plant Production with 4 Departments of Agriculture, Plant Reform and Biotechnology, Medical Plant and Garden Science Engineering, and Green Space, together with 38 faculty members. _Department of Agricultural Management: The faculty consists of two departments of agricultural economy, agricultural education and nine faculty members. _Faculty of Grassland and Watershed: Faculty of Pasture and Watershed Management is composed of three teaching groups of Pasture Management, Watershed Management and Desert Area Management with 16 faculty members. _Faculty of Wood and Paper Engineering: Faculty of Wood and Paper Engineering, consisting of Wood Engineering and Wood Engineering Department and Paper Engineering Department, with 15 faculty members, will be admitted to undergraduate and graduate studies. _Faculty of Animal Science: This faculty consists of two groups of livestock and poultry nutrition, reform and physiology of livestock and poultry and with 13 members of the faculty. The School of Animal Science has five laboratories: Nutrition, Physiology, Genetics and Biotechnology, Microbiology, and Honey Bees. The school also has two research farms for livestock and poultry with advanced equipment. _The School of Soil and Water Engineering: The Faculty works with three departments of Water Engineering, Soil Science and Mechanical Engineering, Biosystems Engineering, along with 26 faculty members.

Indeed, this university, located in Golestan Province in northern Iran, is one of the oldest institutions specializing in agricultural studies. It has a rich history and has made significant contributions to the field of agriculture in the region. Its longstanding presence has allowed it to develop a wealth of expertise and a strong reputation in this field. It continues to play a crucial role in advancing agricultural knowledge and practices in Iran.

The university boasts a Central Laboratory that is outfitted with advanced laboratory equipment. Additional facilities include two research farms, a forest research station, a center for innovation and entrepreneurship, an incubator, and the TTO Center. These resources are readily accessible to students and their research teams throughout their course of study.

The initial registration fee for students at the university is $50. An annual fee of $50 is also required. For those interested in the Persian language course, which caters to all levels from beginner to advanced, the fee is $300.
