In 1382, it gained independence from Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz and continued its mission to become a regional hub for marine science. The university's strategic location within the Arvand Free Zone, with easy access to free waters, the Arvand and Bahmanshir rivers, and proximity to significant wetlands such as Shadegan and Hoyhormozeh, provides it with unique advantages. The university has also established an autonomous campus unit within the Arvand Free Zone. Currently, the university comprises four colleges, with over 2,000 students and 77 faculty members. It has made significant scholarly contributions, with 2,270 articles published in domestic journals and conferences, and 100 ISI articles published in internationally accredited journals.
