Hormozgan University was established in 1991 with the approval of the Council for the Development of Higher Education. It was granted authorization for six faculties, including Bachelor of Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematical Engineering, Physics Department, and Persian Literature Professor, all of which were established in 1999. The university commenced its educational journey by absorbing Hormozgan Technical School, previously affiliated with Shiraz University. The university's facilities span over 55,000 square meters, comprising office space, dormitories, and educational, research, and cultural projects. At present, the institution boasts a student body of 5,500 and a faculty of 500 instructors. Notably, it has published 4,752 scientific articles in national journals and organizations, and is the proprietor and publisher of two specialized journals. Additionally, it has organized 15 conferences and produced 2,519 internationally recognized papers through its research center. In 2023, researchers from Hormozgan University prominently focused on publishing articles with keywords such as "Persian Gulf" and "COVID-19," reflecting the institution's contribution to these significant areas of study.

It consists of 2 blocks, one with 14 blocks of 6 suites and the other with 18 blocks. It also includes a computer site and a library. - There is also a dormitory for female students that can accommodate about 600 people. It offers suites and facilities such as a reading room, a gym, and a PC site. These facilities collectively contribute to a comprehensive and conducive learning environment for the students.

The initial registration fee for students at the university is $50. An annual fee of $50 is also required. For those interested in the Persian language course, which caters to all levels from beginner to advanced, the fee is $300.
